19 March, 2025

According to Portuguese news agency LUSA, Faro airport will have 86 routes to 75 destinations this summer, including direct flights to New York, Helsinki and Reykjavík, as stated by ANA – the country's airport operator.

The reinforcement of air connections from the Gago Coutinho airport (Faro) comprises routes to three new markets: the United States (New York), Finland (Helsinki) and Iceland (Reykjavik). With these new additions, Algarve’s connectivity now extends to 22 international markets.

In 2024, ANA recorded record traffic growth across all its airports, up 4.3% compared to the previous year, with nearly 70 million passengers. Faro airport was no exception, having registered 9.8 million passengers in 2024, an increase of 2%.

To support this traffic growth, ANA is implementing an infrastructure and technology investment program covering all airports under its management, including the replacement of Faro's airport roof, which is underway.
